Rhodri welcomes school safety measures

Carmarthen East & Dinefwr Assembly Member Rhodri Glyn Thomas has welcomed the commissioning of a Road Safety Audit by Plaid Cymru’s Minister for Economy and Transport on the A483 trunk road in Llandeilo.

The specific location on the trunk road relates to the dangerous section outside Llandeilo Primary School and Ysgol Teilo Sant.

Mr. Thomas has welcomed the Welsh Government’s commitment to rectify the on-going problems on a stretch of road which has been associated with a number of ‘near misses’ over the past few years.

Welcoming in the news, Rhodri Glyn Thomas said:

“Following my representations to Ieuan Wyn Jones AM, I am pleased he has commissioned a Road Safety Audit for the area.

“A preliminary design to ascertain whether a pedestrian crossing can be provided near the schools has already been completed.

“Following the completion of the preliminary designs, I am aware that there remain a number of concerns in relation to the road and footpath widths at the location.  The Road Safety Audit will confirm how a pedestrian crossing can be installed as safely as possible.

“This action will go some way to alleviate the safety concerns for pedestrians on what is a very busy road.”
