Plaid take home care privatisation campaign direct to Assembly and Westminster
Motions have been presented in both Westminster and the National Assembly vigorously opposing proposals to privatise much of the health care service in Carmarthenshire. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have raised the motions following a public outcry at plans by the Council to increase the percentage of privet home care services in the county.
Mr Thomas said:
"These plans have been met with strong opposition both by workers within the care services and those people receiving care treatment. There are genuine fears for the quality of service and working conditions it the Councils plans for privatisation were forced through. The First Minister has stated in a response to my questioning that the responsibility for these plans lies clearly at the feet of the council. "
Mr Price added:
"Rhodri and I have raised these motions to highlight the opposition that these proposals have met on a local level. Having spoken to care workers and people in the community that are reliant on this service it is clear that privatisation holds many fears."
