Plaid AM backs Assembly motion supporting post offices
Plaid's Assembly Member for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr has backed a motion supporting the National Federation of Sub postmasters' campaign to retain the Post Office Card Account. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM believes that post offices are an integral part of our communities and has been fighting to ensure the future of the industry.
Mr Thomas said:
"I have backed this motion supporting the National Federation of Sub postmasters' as I feel it is vital we secure the future provision of this very important industry. I have spoken to a great many of my constituents that are very concerned about the future of post offices in Carmarthenshire and across Wales as a whole."
Mr Thomas added:
"Under New Labour over 4,000 post offices in the UK have been forced to shut. Vital links to our communities have been lost as the post office industry has been systematically undermined. Post offices closures are devastating for our communities in terms of access to services. It's important that we support the industry and oppose cut backs and withdrawal of services that have led to sub postmasters being unable to plan ahead in a time of uncertainty."
