Plaid AM calls on Minister to act on farmers compensation

Carmarthenshire's Assembly Member has raised his concerns about the issue of low flying aircraft and farmers' compensation at a National Assembly for Wales's debate on the Approval of the Environmental Noise (Wales) Regulations 2006. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM raised the issue with the Minister for Environment, Planning and Countryside calling on him to provide farmers with the necessary information.

Rhodri Glyn Thomas said:

"I felt it was an important issue to highlight in the scheme of the debate. Low flying military activity is a major issue in the constituency and especially amongst farmers. I felt it was important that the substantial losses farmers face were taking into account."

Mr Thomas added:

"I have called on the Minister to ensure that information on compensation is sent out to each farmer to encourage them to make an application. If farmers are suffering as a result of low flying activity in the county then it is important that they are compensated adequately for this. Both Adam Price MP and I have worked closely with the FUW on this issue and feel it's an important issue for the farming community."
