Plaid get reassurances over factory future
Plaid's Shadow Minister for Environment, Planning & the Countryside in the National Assembly, was joined by Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's AM in meeting delegates from cheese factory Dansco. Elin Jones AM and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM met with representatives of the company to discuss the future of the factory.
Elin Jones said:
"We felt it was important to visit the company to seek reassurances about its future, and to do all we can to safeguard our constituents in both the direct labour force and those serving it. We are grateful for the company for meeting with us to discus our concerns. We have asked to be informed of any further developments and hopefully we can now look forward with confidence."
Rhodri Glyn Thomas added:
"There have been cash flow problems but we were informed that new contracts have recently been added and that the company was confident about its trading future. Dansco is a very important employer in the area with over 100 people in its direct labour force and over a hundred milk producers selling direct to Dansco."
