Plaid AM supports locals calls for coastal path extension
Plaid Assembly Member Rhodri Glyn Thomas meet with constituents to receive a petition of support for the extension of the Millennium Coastal Path in Ferryside. The Carmarthen East and Dinefwr representative was presented with the petition on Ferryside beach. The Ferryside community are hoping to extend the current path to stretch from Burry Port through Ferryside to Carmarthen.
Mr Thomas said:
"It is important for a small community such as Ferryside that there is a link to other areas. This extension would not only provide a more accessible path for the people of Ferryside but will also lead to better tourism and business opportunities in the area."
Petition organiser Leyla Ali added:
"It's a beautiful part of Wales, with its view of Llanstephan Castle and the peaceful, winding Towy Estuary. We want all walkers, (including wheelchair users), cyclists, in fact everyone to have safe access to it. The health benefits are obvious. Ideally it would link us to the new pedestrian bridge at Carmarthen. "
