Local AM highlights Remploy fight at National Assembly
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's Assembly Member has raised the threat of closure facing Remploy in a Plaid Cymru nominated short debate at the Senedd in Cardiff. Rhodri Glyn Thomas highlighted the issues faced by Remploy as a company and made specific reference to the Brynaman factory in his constituency.
Mr Thomas said:
"This is a serious issue that needs to be looked at by the Welsh Assembly Government. Having spoken to the staff at Remploy in Brynaman, I realised that the people employed at the factory had found meaning in their lives as a result of working there."
Mr Thomas added:
"Remploy as an employer was formed for particular reasons, to ensure working opportunities for everyone depending on their needs. Those needs still exist today. I have called on the National Assembly for Wales to respond to the challenges being faced by Remploy in Brynaman and throughout Wales as a whole."
