Plaid condemns waste of time and money

Plaid's elected members for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have condemned the waste of time and public money spent on the police force restructuring proposals. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have spoken out following the discovery that around £1 million pounds has been spent nationally on the proposals with £200,000 of which being taken from Carmarthenshire.

Mr Thomas said:

"Two hundred thousand pounds of public money has been wasted with these proposals. That money would have been better spent on community based policing. Tax payers' money has been wasted on discussion for a single police force. Senior officers have spent a lot of time and effort on proposals that will not go ahead whilst they could have been looking at Carmarthenshire's policing needs"

Mr Price added:

"Once again we are seeing London based ideas dictating Welsh needs and as a result large quantities of public money, which could have been spent on policing on the front line, has been wasted. The people of Wales would much rather see this money be invested into essential public services rather than wasted in this fashion."
