Care Standards Inspectorate played no part in decision to close Annedd
Local AM slams Councils decision to close Annedd without consultation with Care standards Inspectorate.
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's National Assembly Member of Wales has spoken out after uncovering that the Care Standards Inspectorate of Wales played no part in the decision to close Annedd Care home, despite council claims that the decision was driven through as a result of the CSIW. Rhodri Glyn Thomas is still calling for a third option to be implemented and to allow residents to remain in the home until a new home can be developed.
Mr Thomas said:
"I have received a letter from the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales stating clearly that they played no part in the final decision to close the home, and specifically the timing of the closure. I am still calling on the county to think of the residents and staff and to keep Annedd open, decommissioning rooms as they become available, whilst the new facilities are being developed."
Mr Thomas added:
"Annedd home has provided people with high quality care for 40 years. There is a clear need for residential care in Llanybydder and to even consider not providing for that need reflects poor decision making on the councils behalf."
