Need for investment in West Wales - Plaid
New report shows West Wales and the Valleys as the poorest area of the UK
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's Plaid Cymru representatives have expressed their concern at a recent report that has revealed that West Wales and the Valley have the lowest GDP in Britain. Rhodri Glyn Thomas and Adam Price have issued the statement following the Eurostat, the statistical office of the European communities, report.
Mr Thomas said:
"These statistics show that the people of West Wales and the Valleys are suffering with the lowest GDP per person in the whole of the United Kingdom. This is a damning indictment of New Labour's economic policies in Wales"
Mr Price added:
"This just goes to highlight the lack of investment being placed in the economy in West Wales. It's important that the Labour government do more to attract employment opportunities to the area and help develop the economy in West Wales and the Valleys."
