More hardships for Post Offices - Plaid

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's elected members have spoken out following further plans to withdraw services from the post office industry. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have voiced their concern following news that post offices will now lose the ability to take payments for council tax.

Mr Thomas said:

"This news follows on from recent announcements that post offices will not be able to take payments for TV licences and that the Government will not be renewing the pensions card sceme. It's as if the Labour Government are systematically trying to withdraw services from post offices until they are no longer sustainable."

Mr Price added:

"Post offices play a vital role in the day to day lives of my constituents. This is going to affect many people, especially those in rural areas who will find the excess travel to withdraw their pensions and pay for services that will no longer be available at the post office, are real burden."
