Local Museum gets international recognition
Carmarthen East and Dinefwr's elected members have praised a local Museum for achieving nomination to the shortlist for the European Museum of the year award. Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM were speaking after recently visiting the National Woollen Museum in Drefach Felindre.
Mr Price said:
"I was very impressed that there is a local facility being short-listed for such a prestigious award. The 2005 winner was the National Heritage Museum, Arnhem, Netherlands and the award has also been given to the Guggenheim so it is a great honour for the area that there is a Museum of this quality on our doorstep."
Mr Thomas added:
"I would like to wish the National Woollen Museum the very best of luck and to congratulate them on being short-listed, which in itself is a fantastic achievement. It's good to see a rural area Museum being compared with some of Europe's finest and it is a credit to Carmarthenshire."
