Cancer patients suffering emotionally and physically
The Chair of the Health and Social Services Committee has called for more support to be given to patients suffering with the emotional effects of cancer. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM has made the statement following a report carried out by Macmillian.
Mr Thomas said:
"This report is very clearly showing that for a large proportion of people who suffer with cancer, it is the emotional effects rather than the physical effects that are most difficult to deal with. We are trying to provide the best level of physical treatment possible and it is important that the emotional effects of fighting such a traumatic disease are addressed when providing this treatment."
Mr Thomas added:
"Carmarthenshire has the fourth highest number of cancer sufferers in all of the Welsh counties and so it is a very important report for the people in my constituency."
