AM and MP speak out over lack of funds for constituency schools

Plaid Cymru's representatives for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have been disappointed at the lack of money allocated to schools in their constituency. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have spoken out after the Education Minister provided details of the provisional secondary schools allocations.

Mr Thomas said:

"Due to the way the Labour Government have structured these provisions they have neglected rural schools. Vital funds are not being provided to our constituency schools because the Welsh Assembly Government has based this system on the number of children in each school, and not on the needs of each child."

Mr Price added:

"I was disappointed to see that the only school in the constituency to be provided for was Ysgol Y Gwendraeth which received less funding than any other school on the provisions list. It does feel as if the Labour Government at the Welsh Assembly are once again neglecting the needs of school children in rural areas and especially in Carmarthenshire."
