Plaid speak out over Tax hike

Plaid Cymru's representatives in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have spoken of their disappointment at the proposed council tax increase in the area. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have voiced their concern at the strain that the 4.9% increase proposed by Carmarthen County Council will have on their constituents.

Mr Price said:

"This increase, which is above inflation, will stretch the income of most of my constituents. At 4.9% this is an increase that will hit the average worker in the pocket, something Labour has been doing continually."

Mr Thomas added:

"Plaid will be raising the issue of high council tax in the National Assembly, particularly pointing out the problems of those on low fixed incomes such as pensioners. Pensioners regardless of where they live have been hit hard by the Labour government's rebranding exercise, which has been abandoned in England. Plaid Cymru believes that council tax should be abolished and replaced by local income tax."
