Plaid join school protesters in fight against council
Plaid Cymru's representatives in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have come out in support of a local village school under threat of closure. The Carwe Voice group fighting against the schools closure have been given a boost by the support of Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM who will be speaking and joining them on a march on the 31st of March.
Mr Thomas said:
"Carmarthen County Council are intending to close this school by 2010. The people of Carwe are a close knit community and the school is the heart of that network. A larger school would dissolve the community spirit and would lead to less one on one tuition for the pupils."
Mr Price added:
"Parents in Carwe feel strongly that Carmarthen County Council are detached from the needs of local communities, and shutting a vital aspect of this community seems to confirm their beliefs."
