Government's police restructuring takes another blow
Plaid Cymru's opposition to the merger of the four police forces in Wales has been supported by the Commons Select Committee on Welsh Affairs. Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM have welcomed the support to their campaign to stop the radical restructuring.
Mr Price said:
"It is clear from this Committee's decision to condemn the Government that there is little support for Labours policy. There has already been strong criticism by chief constables and police authorities in Wales and its time that the Labour Government realised that Wales is not a test subject."
Mr Thomas added:
"The people of Wales have been continually opposed these proposals. The police authorities have been continually opposed these proposals. Plaid Cymru have been continually opposed to these proposals. Its time for the Labour government to sit up and take note of what the people they have been elected to represent are telling them, instead of taking the people of Wales for granted."
