Labour fails to deliver on yet another promise
Plaid Cymru's Assembly Member for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr has described the Labour Assembly Government's failure to deliver on free personal home care for the disabled as shocking. Rhodri Glyn Thomas has called on Rhodri Morgan's Government to fulfil its promise to disabled people in Wales.
Mr Thomas said:
"In the interest of honesty I trust there will be a health warning on the next labour manifesto saying that if you believe anything written in this manifesto you are in serious danger of self delusion and creating false expectation."
Mr Thomas added:
"Rhodri Morgan promised in 2003 to abolish homecare charges for disabled people in Wales, but we are already in 2006 and he has not delivered on his promise. Yet again he is all talk and no delivery.
"The Labour Assembly Government has not made clear how much funding has been allocated towards this promise. Indeed it is worrying that the budget for the next financial year, which is the final year of the Assembly term, does not detail dedicated funds for delivering this promise.
Plaid Cymru will be pressing Minister to ensure that all people in need receive this support, wherever they live in Wales. This is what Wales wants."
