Plaid Cymru speak out on police restructuring
Plaid Cymru's elected members in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have spoken out in reponse to Labours proposed all-Wales police force. Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM have condemned the plans that will lead to a single police force in Wales.
Mr Price said:
"Dyfed Powys police force is one of the best performing police forces in the UK. By restructuring in Wales police forces will be more remote from the public and the communities they seek to serve. Whilst Labour are intent on centralizing and rationalising policing Plaid Cymru favours a more community orientated police structure."
Mr Thomas added:
"The issue of policing should be devolved to Cardiff and the Welsh Assembly. Welsh police structure should be based on Welsh needs."
