Hospital sale shockes AM and MP
Plaid Cymru members for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr have expressed their shock at the proposed sale of a hospital in Carmarthenshire so that health commissioners can repay a loan to the National Assembly for Wales. Rhoadri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have raised their concerns after hospitals in the Amman Valley, Llandovery and Mynydd Mawr were highlighted.
Mr Price said,
"I find it hard to believe that any sites can be considered for sale when a review of community hospitals and community services has yet to be compleated."
Mr Thomas added,
"It is a concern that a vital facility is to be sold because of inherited debt which created a shortfall in its budget. I am concerned that the Labour Government is now insisting on repayment of this money, rather than addressing the real issue of how it developed and helping the trust overcome this difficulty in its budget.."
