Plaid Cymru peak out over council housing blunder

Plaid Cymru's elected members for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, have voiced their concerns at the fact that council houses are being left empty at a time when there are 4,000 families on the waiting list. Adam Price MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM have called for these houses to be prepared for waiting families as soon as possible.

Mr Price said,

"At a time when homelessness has risen by 300% over the last four years I am appalled that Carmarthenshire County Council have left these houses empty. It must be a priority for the council to ensure that with so many people in need of a home, valid housing is not wasted."

Mr Thomas added,

"With so many people on the waiting list for accommodation it would suggest that Carmarthenshire County Council have no spare housing. However these houses have been left empty. It is essential that the houses that are being left empty are occupied by families in need and not left vacant."
