Local AM raises speed concerns on busy Trunk road

Carmarthen East & Dinefwr Assembly Member Rhodri Glyn Thomas has raised concerns to the local authority and to South Wales Trunk Road Agency regarding the speed limit on the A483 near Pentregwenlais Road/Penpound Lane, Llandybie.  The short stretch of road is currently limited to 40mph before entering a 60mph speed limit further down the road.

Rhodri Glyn Thomas said:

“A number of constituents have contacted me following an incident last week which saw a street sign mowed down.  This obviously caused significant damage to the vehicle involved not to mention the trauma the driver/passengers experienced.  Many drivers completely ignore the 40mph limit on what is a very bendy stretch of the trunk road.  In response to my constituent’s requests I have asked both the local authority and the Trunk Road Agency to look into scrapping the current 40mph limit and to extend the 30mph already in place through Llandybie.”

Rhodri Glyn Thomas added:

“This is an extremely busy trunk road used by many haulage/heavy good vehicles as well as ordinary drivers.  I trust the authorities will monitor the stretch of road in their endeavours to make our roads as safe as possible”.
