Local AM encouraged by Trunk Road Agency review
Following the recent representations made by Carmarthen East & Dinefwr Assembly Member Rhodri Glyn Thomas regarding the speed limit on the A483 at Pentregwenlais Road/Penpound Lane, Llandybie, the South Wales Trunk Road Agency has responded noting that as part of the Agency’s review of all speed limits, the limits on the A483 through Pentregwenlais have been prioritised and are to be reviewed this financial year.
Rhodri Glyn Thomas requested that the Agency looked at scrapping the short stretch of 40mph through Pentregwenlais and extends the existing 30mph which is in place through Llandybie. The Trunk Road Agency has said the review will involve obtaining speed data and the personal injury accident history for the length of trunk road, which will be considered along with the nature of the road and the amount of frontage development in determining the most appropriate speed limit for the road.
Rhodri Glyn Thomas said:
“I am encouraged by the response of the Trunk Road Agency. The fact the Agency has prioritised this stretch of the Trunk Road indicates to me that a catalogue of concerns have been raised about the existing speed limits and the number of previous incidents at this location. I am pleased my representations have added weight to the argument and I will be keen to see the results of the monitoring activities in the coming months as we continue our endeavours to ensure the roads are as safe as possible”.
